Manuele Fior's graphic novel adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's 'Fräulein Else' reissued

Manuele Fior's graphic novel adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's 1924 novella 'Fräulein Else' is being reissued by Coconino Press – Fandango in a new edition enriched with sketches and working notes. Originally published in 2009, the book faithfully follows the story of Else, a 19-year-old from an upper-middle-class Austrian family, who seeks help from wealthy art dealer Von Dorsday to save her father from bankruptcy. Dorsday agrees on the condition that Else poses naked for him. The resulting blackmail triggers a lengthy internal monologue in which Else shares her suffering and frustrations. Fior's fluid and refined linework revitalizes the original text, translating the protagonist's turmoil into striking images. The release is scheduled for September 21, 2017, coinciding with the upcoming Treviso Comic Book Festival. The 104-page color edition retails for €18.
