Mantua's Palazzo Te to Get New 80,000-Sqm Urban Park
A new urban park is set to open next to Palazzo Te in Mantua by September 2023, transforming a former parking and sports area into a green lung for the city. Mayor Mattia Palazzi announced the project, which covers 80,000 square meters and includes nearly 300 new trees, a 50,000-sqm central lawn, and four multifunctional 'green rooms' for educational, play, and relaxation purposes. The design is by AG&P Landscape, with Land as executive partner. Construction, led by a temporary consortium including Tea Reteluce, Reggiani Srl, Bottoli Costruzioni, and Mantova Ambiente, began in January 2022. Funding of €5.2 million comes from the former Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, with the municipality contributing €300,000. The park aims to provide space for daily activities, events, music, and sports, with outer zones dedicated to contemplation and nature.
