MANN Napoli Takes Art to the Streets with Outdoor Photo Exhibition

The National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) has launched an outdoor exhibition titled 'Fuga dal Museo' under the Galleria Principe in central Naples, featuring large totems (2x1m) displaying photomontages by Dario Assisi and Riccardo Maria Cipolla. Originally shown at MANN in 2019, the works depict ancient statues escaping their pedestals to wander through iconic Neapolitan sites. The initiative follows the museum's closure due to Italy's November 3 DPCM decree. Additionally, 12 comic panels from the 2021 calendar created by the Scuola Italiana di Comix, directed by Mario Punzo, are displayed on the museum's construction scaffolding, illuminated at night. The comics reinterpret Hercules as a modern hero tackling contemporary challenges. MANN director Paolo Giulierini stated the project aims to spread beauty and community spirit through the historic center. The museum also promotes its 'Negozi Amici' network, with local shops displaying the artworks, and offers discounted annual passes (OpenMANN) at €10 for adults and €15 for families, with a 'Regalati un viaggio nella storia' promotion allowing old subscribers to recover lost time due to the pandemic.
