Manila Artists Jocson and Banal Discuss Philippine Contemporary Art at London Talk

Eisa Jocson and Yason Banal, both based in Manila, will participate in a conversation about transformations within Philippine contemporary art. The discussion will be moderated by Mark Rappolt, who serves as editor-in-chief of ArtReview Asia. Scheduled for Monday, 8 April, the event begins at 7:00 PM, with doors opening from 6:30 PM. It will be held at the ArtReview Bar, located at 1 Honduras Street in London, EC1Y 0TH. Attendance is free, though an RSVP to rsvp@artreview.com is required. This talk precedes the opening of a group exhibition titled 'Motions Of This Kind: Propositions & Problems of Belatedness' at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS, in London. That exhibition, running from 12 April to 22 June, examines artistic practices originating from the Philippines. Jocson's artistic practice investigates body politics, particularly as they appear within service and entertainment sectors. Banal employs various media to explore connections and distortions between different knowledge systems.
