Manifesta 14 to Take Place in Pristina in 2022

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The 14th edition of Manifesta, the European contemporary art biennial, is set to take place in Pristina, Kosovo, as preparations continue for the 13th edition in Marseille, which has been rescheduled from June 7 to August 28–November 29, 2020, due to the pandemic. The Marseille event, titled "Traits d'union.s," follows the 2018 Palermo edition, "Il Giardino Planetario. Coltivare la coesistenza." Pristina was selected for its important geopolitical context and its history of neoliberal changes. Manifesta seeks to empower citizens to reclaim public spaces and envision their city's future. On May 19, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Manifesta director Hedwig Fijen and Kosovo's Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Vlora Dumoshi, to create a permanent intercultural institution in Pristina by 2022.
