Manifesta 11 Opens in Zurich with 'What People Do for Money'
On June 11, 2016, the 11th edition of Manifesta commenced in Zurich, under the curation of Christian Jankowski, and is titled 'What People Do for Money: Some Joint Ventures.' This event brings together 30 artists and professionals from more than 1,000 different fields in Zurich. The collaborations are showcased through three distinct formats: a traditional art institution, a satellite venue, and the Pavillon of Reflections. Joint-venture performances at Cabaret Voltaire, curated by Manuel Scheiwiller, feature architectural designs by Alex Lehnerer and Ciriacidis Lehnerer Architects. Notable performers include Adrian Piper and Kim Gordon, alongside Italian artists Marcella Vanzo and Mimmo Rubino. A historical exhibition, co-curated with Francesca Gavin, displays 250 works from 100 artists, including Bruno Munari, on scaffolding.
