Manif d'art 11 Explores Sleep and Waking in Quebec City Biennial

The Quebec City Biennial, Manif d'art 11, curated by Marie Muracciole, draws inspiration from Canadian winter and sleep to examine themes of latency, transition, and resistance against exploitation. The biennial features exhibitions that function as 'moments of awakening,' engaging multiple levels of attention through artistic processes that provoke astonishment and rearrange perceptions. Visitors encounter spaces of fertile retreat, including projection rooms, bedrooms, houses, and burrows. Artists include Abbas Akhavan, Alexis Gros-Louis, Ali Eyal, Andy Warhol, Barbara Manzetti, Catarina Simão, Christine Rebet, Dawit L. Petros, Elodie Pong, Emily Wardill, Eveline Boulva, Felix Gonzales-Torres, Francis Alÿs, François Morelli, Jannick Deslauriers, Joachim Koester and Stefan A. Pedersen, Joseph Tisiga, Julie Picard, Jumana Manna, Kapwani Kiwanga, Laure Tixier, Liz Magor, Magali Hébert-Huot, Marie-Claude Gendron, Mounira Al Solh, Moyra Davey, Nour Bishouty, Pascale Leblanc, Lavigne Paul Cox, RAQs Media Collective, Rodney Graham, Sarah F. Maloney, Suzanne Lafont, Tiffany Shaw, Tuumasi Kudluk, Xavier LeRoy, Yann Pocreau, and Yto Barrada. A 'Carte Blanche' section from the Ah-Kwayaonhkeh Center for Artists features Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui and Teharihulen Michel Savard. The biennial is coproduced by Grand Théâtre de Québec, Avatar, and Manif d'art.
