Manfredi Beninati's 'Domenica 10 dicembre 2039' at Galleria Poggiali, Florence

Galleria Poggiali in Florence presents Manfredi Beninati's solo exhibition 'Domenica 10 dicembre 2039', curated by Sergio Risaliti and running until December 16, 2016. The show's title is a deliberate temporal falsehood: December 10, 2039 will be a Saturday, not a Sunday, in our dimension. Beninati (born Palermo, 1970) draws on string theory to suggest an alternate universe where time flows differently. The exhibition evokes a Felliniesque suspended life, proposing a 'total' artwork that blends real and dreamlike space, varying with the viewer's sensibility. It includes nine bronze sculptures—a new medium for the artist—and a selection of paintings depicting childhood imaginary worlds, animals, and human heads. The works are noted for a lightness reminiscent of Chagall. The exhibition is held at Galleria Poggiali's two locations: Via della Scala 35a and Via Benedetta 3r.
