Mandarin Oriental opens luxury resort on Mallorca's Punta Negra

Mandarin Oriental has opened a new luxury resort on Mallorca's Punta Negra, marking its entry into the island's high-end hospitality market. The property, owned by Blasson Property with a reported €200m investment, expands the original 1966 hotel designed by architect Felipe Sánchez-Cuenca Martínez. The resort now features 131 rooms, 26 suites, six restaurants, and a vast spa. Restaurants include Thalos, Sobretaula, Leppoc, Leña, and upcoming Matsuhisa by Nobu Matsuhisa and Jacinta by DZO Hospitality. Interior design is by Laura Gonzalez with BG Studio. Art curator Paloma Fernández-Iriondo commissioned works from Spanish artists including Fran Aniorte and Vera Edwards. The resort targets a new cohort of international visitors drawn by United Airlines flights from Newark and Etihad from Abu Dhabi. Lead architect Estudio Lamela collaborated with HKS Architects and local studios.
