Mandala Lab: Emotional Transformation Installation Opens in Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Biblioteca degli Alberi (BAM) in Milan has unveiled the Mandala Lab, an immersive installation rooted in Tibetan Buddhist principles and emotional health. This traveling exhibit from New York's Rubin Museum has previously appeared in Bilbao and London. Launched on March 24, 2024, as part of BAM's Spring Festival, it is open to the public until April 21, 2024, at no cost. The lab serves as an emotional gym, converting negative feelings into wisdom through a blend of art and science. Collaborators include neuroscientists and artists such as Palden Weinreb, Laurie Anderson, and Tenzin Tsetan Choklay, along with musicians like Peter Gabriel and Sheila E. The Milan installation features 15 weekly events and guided school tours, inviting visitors to explore rooms themed around emotions like pride and anger. A podcast titled Mandala Sound enhances the experience.
