MAN Nuoro produces short film on satirical magazine Il Pasquino

digital · 2026-04-27

The MAN Museum of Nuoro has produced a short film exploring the satirical world of the magazine Il Pasquino, directed by the collective Mira Videoart. The video is part of a series of four shorts, each dedicated to a protagonist featured in the museum's exhibition: illustrator Edina Altara, the satirical magazine Il Pasquino, designer Giovanni Pintori, and illustrator Beppe Porqueddu. Mira Videoart, founded by Alessandra Atzori and Milena Tipaldo, employed various animation techniques including cut-out, stop motion, pop-up, and pixillation, using archival material provided by the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission. The short on Il Pasquino tells the story of its editors across different historical periods: Enrico Gianeri, Tarquinio Sini, and Giovanni Manca. The narrative unfolds through the pages of an imaginary magazine bound by Libri Finti Clandestini using recycled paper in various formats. A voice-over, mimicking the style of Istituto Luce newsreels, recites an ironic rhyme.
