MAN Nuoro director Luigi Fassi on post-lockdown reopening plans

Luigi Fassi, director of the Museo MAN in Nuoro, Sardinia, discusses the museum's preparation for reopening after Italy's lockdown. The museum aims to open by late May 2020, following a safety protocol developed with the Province of Nuoro, pending further guidelines from the Ministry and the Region. Priority is given to staff, visitor, and artwork safety through regular sanitization. The exhibition "Il regno segreto. Sardegna-Piemonte: una visione postcoloniale," originally scheduled for mid-March, will be completed after safety upgrades. Fassi notes that while the exhibition program can be preserved by postponing some projects to 2021, educational activities, especially with schools, face greater challenges. The museum is currently running weekly children's workshops via Facebook and plans to continue digital tools for outreach. Fassi emphasizes the need to safeguard all art sector professionals, particularly artists and mediators, and calls for cooperation over competition. The MAN has initiated the "Connessioni Inventive" project with ICA Milan to share resources and ideas.
