MAN Nuoro celebrates 20 years with new space and dual exhibitions

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Museo d'Arte Contemporanea della provincia di Nuoro (MAN) marks its 20th anniversary with three days of celebrations from February 8 to 10, 2019. The historic Palazzo Satta in Piazza Satta will open to the public, featuring two exhibitions: one interactive project by Inoke studio using augmented reality to preview the museum's new layout, and another curated by artist Daniela Frongia (born 1981 in San Gavino Monreale) tracing the museum's history through invitations, posters, postcards, and video materials. The palazzo, recently acquired by MAN, will serve as exhibition space and staff offices. Director Luigi Fassi, who began his programming in November 2018, emphasizes the museum's role as a "concrete utopia" and a landmark for Sardinia. The museum, founded in 1999, has built a community through collaborations with artists like Paolo Fresu and literature festivals. Fassi's new program, launched in late 2018, focuses on the Mediterranean as a crossroads of cultures. Restoration work, designed by architect Lorenzo Marratzu, is nearing completion.
