Man charged over bomb hoax at Peter Kay show removed from court
A 19-year-old man, Omar Majed from Birmingham, has been charged in connection with a bomb hoax that led to the evacuation of a Peter Kay performance. He was taken out of Birmingham Magistrates' Court following disruptive outbursts. Majed did not enter a plea regarding the accusation of providing false information to the police and was placed in custody. It is alleged that he entered the Utilita Arena without a ticket and suggested the presence of a bomb. The venue, which was expected to host nearly 13,000 attendees, saw thousands evacuated. Prosecutor Ros Buttler highlighted the serious consequences of the hoax. Majed is scheduled to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on June 1. West Midlands Police reported no suspicious findings.
