Mamma Andersson's Uncanny Works on Paper at David Zwirner Paris

David Zwirner Paris is showcasing a solo exhibition titled 'Œuvres sur papier' featuring Swedish artist Mamma Andersson, which includes original paper works such as aquatints, etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts. This exhibition is on display until June 27 at the gallery located on rue Vieille du Temple. Renowned for her evocative paintings and drawings, Andersson incorporates recurring themes like chairs, masks, deer, dolls, classical sculptures, and skeletons. The exhibition also presents vitrines filled with reference materials and books by Karl Ove Knausgaard, who has used her art for his book covers. Born in 1962 in Luleå, Sweden, she graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 1993. Her recent series, 'Scenes from a Marriage', draws from her personal experiences, including her divorce from artist Jockum Nordström, while emphasizing the element of surprise in her creative process. Additionally, the Paris exhibition features etchings developed over two years with Atelier Tazé-Lipreau-Arai, linking back to her 2023 show 'Adieu Maria Magdalena'.
