MAMbo's 'Dear You' Connects Artists and Public Through Postal Correspondence

MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna has launched 'Dear you', a project curated by Caterina Molteni that replaces digital engagement with postal correspondence. Six international artists—Hamja Ahsan, Giulia Crispiani, Dora García, Allison Grimaldi Donahue, David Horvitz, and Ingo Niermann—create works conceived as poems, stories, instructions for performative acts, and relational devices, sent via mail to 1,211 participants. Of these, 1,099 are in Italy and 112 abroad across 19 countries: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Singapore, Spain, United States, Switzerland, Turkey, and Vietnam. The first work, by Dora García, explores writing as a driver of egalitarian relationships and meaning-making, touching on reinterpretation, political potential of language, and the future as the true recipient of every letter.
