MAMAC's Pop Art Amazons exhibition goes digital with Instagram reels and podcast
The exhibition 'She-Bam Pow POP Wizz! Les Amazones du POP' opened on October 3 at MAMAC in Nice but remains closed to the public. Curator Géraldine Gourbe and co-curator Hélène Guenin, also MAMAC director, have developed alternative digital methods to present the untold story of international Pop Art. In partnership with Cercle Rouge, an association specializing in audiovisual events and visual production, the exhibition is showcased through weekly Instagram reels. Guenin provides a three-minute commentary for each artwork, revealing what the show holds on the museum's second floor. For those who prefer immediate access, the video series is already available on MAMAC's YouTube channel, while a podcast series 'Arts-denaro' by Bébé Tambour focuses on Niki de Saint Phalle, a Franco-American artist and emblematic figure of MAMAC's collection, whose work is featured in the exhibition marking the museum's 30th anniversary. Recognized as of national interest by the French Ministry of Culture, the exhibition presents 42 female artists from Europe and North America who contributed to a new artistic language. These 'Amazons of Pop' envision a world of sexual emancipation, social rights, and pacifism. The show runs until March 30, 2021 at MAMAC, Place Yves Klein, Nice.
