MAM-SP Celebrates Arcangelo Ianelli's Centenary with Retrospective Exploring Color and Form

exhibition · 2026-04-19

The Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (MAM-SP) kicks off its 2023 season with 'Ianelli 100 anos: o artista essencial,' a retrospective dedicated to the artist Arcangelo Ianelli (1922-2009). Curated by Denise Mattar, the exhibition showcases nearly 100 pieces that illustrate his artistic journey from academic figuration in the 1950s to abstraction. Ianelli held his first solo exhibition at MAM-SP in 1961 and was part of six Panorama de Pintura events, earning a prize in 1973. The display, shaped by the museum's architecture, offers a non-linear experience, featuring works from after 2000 alongside earlier creations. It will be open until May 14, 2023, at MAM-SP in Parque Ibirapuera.
