MAM Rio Opens Applications for Radical Pedagogies Art and Education Residency

MAM Rio has announced the Residência Arte e Educação – Pedagogias Radicais, a four-month residency program for artists and educators working at the intersection of art, education, and critical thought. The residency will select four participants from Rio de Janeiro city or the state's interior, running from October 13, 2026, to January 29, 2027. Applications open September 3–20, 2026, with interviews for shortlisted candidates scheduled for September 28–30, and results announced on October 5. Participants will dedicate approximately 20 hours per week and receive a monthly stipend of R$ 2,000, totaling R$ 8,000. The program, which operates both online and in-person, is designed as a space for collective inquiry into questions such as 'What can a radical pedagogy be today?' and 'How do pedagogical practices affect artistic work?' The residency is part of MAM Rio's Bloco Escola initiative, sponsored by Petrobras, and the Museu-Escola project, supported by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, Municipal Secretary of Culture, BTG Pactual, Globo, Janeiro Hotel, Multiterminais, and Piemonte through the Municipal Law of Incentive to Culture (ISS Law).
