Malwina Jachimczak's Emotional Painting Practice Explores Feminist Narratives

Polish artist Malwina Jachimczak, based in Poland, has developed a painting practice centered on emotion, feminist perspectives, and the human relationship with nature. After initially studying design at the Academy of Fine Arts, she later pursued cultural studies and postgraduate studies in socio-cultural gender identity, jewelry, ceramics, and precious metal processing. A period of despair led her to volunteer with injured and disabled wild birds, an experience that reshaped her outlook and coincided with her renewed commitment to painting. Her work is driven by sensory and emotional experiences rather than visual memory, with sounds, lyrics, and feelings serving as primary material. Notable series include 'Vases of Life', inspired by songs, and 'Heroines', which depicts women as powerful protagonists who tame symbolic beasts representing societal forces like patriarchy and capitalism. Key works include 'Missing' (2024), inspired by Everything but the Girl's Todd Terry remix, and 'Born This Way' (2025), created during Pride Month. Her paintings combine acrylic paint, spray paint, stencils, and masking techniques. Jachimczak maintains a disciplined studio routine, balancing artistic practice with caring for her birds.
