Malmö Nordic 2013 Festival Showcases Regional Art Through Exhibitions and Performances

festival-fair · 2026-04-20

The 2013 Nordic festival held in Malmö presented contemporary art through a collective Nordic lens, involving Malmö Konsthal, Malmö Konstmuseum, and Moderna Museet Malmö, alongside more than 20 smaller galleries. One highlight was Malmö Konsthal's exhibition titled 24 Spaces – a Cacophony, which featured a cake model by Tidens Krav and Steinar Hagar Kristensen, complemented by vodka served from a cooler. Notable participants included Norway's 1857, Denmark's Pist Protta, and Iceland's Kling & Bang. The Nordic Model® exhibition at Malmö Konstmuseum showcased Goldin+Senneby's performance on bio-economics, while Moderna Museet Malmö displayed Ragnar Kjartansson's Scandinavian Pain installation. Olof Olsson's performance, The Nordic Sound, at Malmö Konstmuseum humorously explored Nordic identity from various viewpoints.
