Malgorzata Paszko's Color-Saturated Works on View at Maison Caillebotte

exhibition · 2026-05-19

Polish painter Malgorzata Paszko (born 1956 in Warsaw) presents her recent works at the Ferme ornée of Maison Caillebotte in Yerres, France, from May 8 to October 18. The exhibition, titled "La nature n'est pas un décor," features paintings made with pure pigments and a vinyl binder that soaks into the canvas like blotting paper, preventing layers. Paszko's technique evolved from early experiments with charcoal and beet juice on wrapping paper (a form of arte povera) to her current method. A 2022 trip to Samarkand with a Russian friend introduced intense blues—cobalt, ultramarine, cerulean—that dominate recent works. Her career includes study at the École des beaux-arts in Paris under Jean Bertholle (1976), a residency at Villa Medici in Rome (1986-1987), and the Grand Prix de la Fondation Taylor (2023). She lives and works in a former brick factory in Saint-Martin-de-Bienfaite-la-Cressonnière, Normandy. A concurrent exhibition is held at Alice Mogabgab & Co in Beirut, Lebanon, from May 5 to June 26.
