MALBA Presents Leda Catunda and Alejandra Seeber in 'Fuera de serie' Exhibition
The Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) presents 'Fuera de serie,' a dual exhibition of Brazilian artist Leda Catunda and Argentine artist Alejandra Seeber, curated by Francisco Lemos. Running from February 19 to August, the show occupies two museum spaces as part of the new 'Paralelo 1 || 3' program, which links ground and second-floor galleries. The exhibition includes recent and historical works, studies, sketches, and documents, focusing on the artists' shared exploration of painting's limits and influences from urban culture, modern art, design, music, and nature. A companion book edited by Gabriela Rangel features images, a curatorial essay by Lemos, a text by American poet John Yau, and an interview with both artists. Yau notes that Catunda and Seeber expand painting into new territory with humor and social consciousness, questioning standards of beauty and refined aesthetic experience. In late 2021, Catunda will also exhibit at Carpintaria in Rio de Janeiro alongside American artist Judy Chicago.
