Making Art Global (Part 1) Book Launch in Amsterdam

On January 19, 2012, Afterall Books and Stedelijk Museum will unveil the second installment of the Exhibition Histories series, titled Making Art Global (Part I): The Third Havana Biennial 1989, at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. This publication explores the ways in which the Third Havana Biennial broadened the global influence of contemporary art and transformed the biennial format. Keynote speeches will be presented by Gerardo Mosquera, a freelance curator and critic associated with the first three Havana Biennials, and Rachel Weiss, a Professor of Arts Administration and Policy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Following their talks, they will participate in a moderated discussion with Direlia Lazo and Annie Fletcher. The free event, in English, begins at 8:00 PM in the Rijksakademie auditorium, located at Sarphatistraat 470, Amsterdam. Reservations can be made by emailing reservations@stedelijk.nl.
