MakerArt Section Launched at Maker Faire Rome 2021

The ninth edition of Maker Faire Rome took place at Gazometro from October 10, 2021, showcasing MakerArt, overseen by Valentino Catricalà, which highlights the intersection of contemporary art and cutting-edge technologies. A significant feature, "You and AI. Through The Algorithmic Lens," was co-curated by Irini Mirena Papadimitriou and Catricalà and is part of the European ARTificial Intelligence Lab, supported by the EU's Creative Europe Program. This exhibition includes works from artists such as Emilio Vavarella, Jake Elwes, Memo Akten, and Paolo Cirio. Vavarella's piece incorporates his DNA into fabric, while Elwes critiques facial recognition in "Zizi Queering the Dataset." Cirio's "Capture" documents police imagery. Additional contributions include Daniele Puppi's animations and Økapi's "Vertical tales." The Maker Music segment, curated by Andrea Lai, features performances from Donato Piccolo, Naip, and more.
