Major UK Photography Exhibitions Feature Muholi, Iturbide, Raffles and Smith
This summer, prominent photography exhibitions by four artists are taking place at UK institutions. Starting on 6 June, Tate Modern will host Zanele Muholi's career retrospective, which includes 260 photographs such as Only Half The Picture and Somnyama Ngonyama. Until 17 November, the Baltic Centre is showcasing a retrospective of Franki Raffles, featuring 40,000 images that capture women's lives around the world. On 14 June, The Photographers' Gallery will unveil Graciela Iturbide's Shadowlines, which explores Zapotec culture. Autograph will present C. Rose Smith's Talking Back to Power on 13 June, focusing on Black histories and gender fluidity at former plantation sites. Additionally, the V&A's Photo City: How Images Shape the Urban World runs until 27 October, featuring a five-metre collage by Sohei Nishino of Dundee.
