Major UK Outdoor Sculpture Exhibitions Feature Bourgeois, Hirst, Gormley and New Commissions

Several significant outdoor sculpture exhibitions are currently on view across the UK. At Compton Verney in Warwickshire, a new 120-acre sculpture park features works by Louise Bourgeois, Sarah Lucas, Helen Chadwick, Permindar Kaur, and Larry Achiampong, marking the gallery's 20th anniversary and running until May 2027. Damien Hirst's quartet of sculptures concludes its five-year display at Yorkshire Sculpture Park on September 1, featuring works like 'Charity' and 'The Virgin Mother'. Antony Gormley's 'Time Horizon', comprising 100 iron figures, is installed at Houghton Hall in Norfolk until October 31, having previously been shown in Catanzaro, Italy. At Wakehurst, the 'Meadowland' exhibition from June 14 to September 10 includes Saroj Patel's 'The Wings Flutter, Grasslands are Alive' with over 700 handsewn flags and Tord Boontje's 'The Meadow Shadow'. Steve Messam's temporary installation 'Or', featuring 500 gold textile flags, is on the lawns of Lowther Castle in Cumbria until May 6. These exhibitions highlight the seasonal presentation of sculpture in landscape settings, with works addressing themes from ecology and the body to art history and identity.
