Major Aboriginal Art Exhibition at Musée de Lodève Features Klein Collection Works

From April 18 to August 30, 2026, the Musée de Lodève will showcase an exhibition dedicated to Aboriginal art, curated by Aurosi Moreno and Janna Eisenbeis. This exhibition will display approximately one hundred pieces from the Alison and Peter Klein collection, featuring notable artists such as Ginger Wikilyiri, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa (1943–2023), and Gloria Petyarre (1942–2021). The artworks utilize vibrant colors and dot painting methods to represent landscapes and "Dreaming" narratives. The Aboriginal population experienced a significant decline from 700,000 in 1788 to 31,000 by 1911, achieving citizenship in 1967 and receiving a government apology in 2008. Since the 1970s, painting has played a crucial role in cultural expression, with commercial pieces produced for sale.
