Maja ∀. Ngom's Sonosphere Installation at Galeria Skala

exhibition · 2026-05-23

Maja ∀. Ngom has transformed Poznań's Galeria Skala into an immersive installation that explores her background and heritage through a combination of objects and sound. The installation features the voices of performers Ngnima Sarr, known as T.I.E, Nika Kimaty, and Sylwia Achu, contributing to Ngom's collection of narratives from people of color. This work is part of her ongoing Dark Polish Archives series, which emphasizes themes of visibility and otherness. Accompanying the exhibition is a publication featuring texts by Margaret Ohia-Nowak, designed by Magdalena Heliasz, with a release date yet to be announced. Ngom, born in 1980 to Polish-Senegalese heritage, earned her MA from the Royal College of Art and her BA from the University of the Arts London. The exhibition receives funding from OmenaArt Foundation, the Culture Department of the City of Poznań, and the Wielkopolska Voivodeship.
