Maison & Objet 2018: Rising Talent Awards spotlight Italian designers

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The 2018 edition of Maison & Objet in Paris, running from January 19 to 24 at Paris Nord Villepinte, places a special focus on Italian design through its Rising Talent Awards. Six mentors—Giulio Cappellini, Rossana Orlandi, Andrea Branzi, Rosita Missoni, Piero Lissoni, and Luca Nichetto—each selected an emerging Italian designer. Antonio Facco (b. 1991), mentored by Cappellini, presents a participatory space exploring time and metaphysical imagery. Guglielmo Poletti (b. 1987), chosen by Orlandi, shows pieces from his Equilibrium series, including a prototype now in the permanent collection of the Design Museum of Ghent. Federica Biasi (b. 1989), mentored by Branzi and art director of Mingardo, presents essential design with poetic touches. Marco Lavit Nicora (b. 1986), selected by Missoni, exhibits works including the Venezia seat for the Venice Architecture Biennale and pieces for Nilufar Gallery. Kensaku Oshiro (b. 1977, Okinawa), mentored by Lissoni, bridges Japanese and Western design cultures. Federico Peri (b. 1983), chosen by Nichetto, focuses on multifunctionality and lighting. The awards provide a platform for these talents to gain visibility among scouts and press.
