Maiden Home's Eva Collection and Miami Flagship: Nidhi Kapur on Craft and Restraint
Maiden Home, a New York City–based collectible furniture brand, launched the Eva collection during NYCxDesign, featuring a squared, sculptural armoire and sideboard with handmade wood frames and hand-cast ceramic tile. The white oak and walnut frames are crafted in Upstate New York, while a husband-and-wife studio in Colorado molds, glazes, and finishes the tiles, which are then hand-set into the wood. This limited-edition commission series began a year ago with the Rene Coffee Table, made from cast glass and blackened steel, requiring the only kiln in the U.S. large enough—producing one table every six weeks. Founder and CEO Nidhi Kapur emphasizes that Maiden Home aims to “fill a cultural void rather than a market gap,” prioritizing craftsmanship, restraint, and permanence. In November 2025, the brand opened a 4,000-square-foot flagship in the Miami Design District, designed by Kapur in collaboration with Montalba Architects. The space features limewash finishes and large skylights to create a quiet, grounding counterbalance to Miami's energy. Kapur notes the brand moves slowly, saying “we say no way more than we say yes.” An L.A. flagship is in development, and Kapur sees potential in design categories beyond furniture, though she intends to maintain the brand's disciplined approach.
