Mahmood Launches NFTs Based on Ghettolimpo Album Characters
Italian singer Mahmood has entered the NFT space by transforming characters from his album Ghettolimpo into digital artworks. Released six months ago, the album features six avatars—Inuyasha, Rapide, Dorado, Klan, Kobra, and Zero—each with distinct imagery. Zero's song served as the soundtrack for a Netflix fiction directed by Antonio Dikele Distefano. Mahmood collaborated with Lettergram, who previously handled the album's graphics, to create video animations. These were then converted into NFTs with the help of Art Rights and AmaZix. Art Rights, an Italian startup specializing in blockchain certification for physical and digital works, and AmaZix, a Hong Kong-based blockchain marketing agency, provided expertise. The NFTs were sold in limited editions on Mahmood's official website. Mahmood, a Milanese artist born in 1992, expressed longstanding interest in digital worlds and saw NFTs as a new creative form for his characters. Andrea Concas, founder of Art Rights, noted that this move opens new collecting scenarios for fans of one of Italy's biggest artists. The initiative follows other musicians like Morgan who have turned songs into unique digital copies, potentially encouraging further crossover between music and digital art.
