Mahler & LeWitt Studios in Spoleto Open Residencies in Historic Artists' Ateliers
The kitchen walls of Spoleto's Torre Bonomo are still graced by Sol LeWitt's wall drawings from 1976. Currently, this space is utilized by Mahler & LeWitt Studios, a non-profit established in 2015 within the former studios of Anna Mahler (1904–1988) and Sol LeWitt (1928–2007). Mahler relocated to Spoleto in 1968, while LeWitt resided there during the 1980s. Located at Via Brignone 18, this organization upholds the legacy of the Anna Mahler Association by providing five residency sessions each year for artists, curators, and others. Co-founder Guy Robertson mentions that one-third of participants are selected through open calls, another third by invitation, and the remaining third are returning artists. The Torre Bonomo has been hosting exhibitions since 1976, drawing international artists to Spoleto.
