Magnus Retrospective Opens in Pordenone with Over 600 Original Boards
A major retrospective on the legendary Italian comic artist Magnus (Roberto Raviola) has opened at the Palazzo del Fumetto in Pordenone. Titled "Il segno di Magnus. Da Alan Ford a Tex," the exhibition brings together nearly 600 original boards from private collections, curated by Michele Masini, Luca Baldazzi, and Giovanni Nahmias. It covers Magnus's entire career, from his 1960s collaborations with writer Luciano Secchi (Max Bunker) on series like Kriminal, Satanik, Maxmagnus, and Alan Ford, to his solo creations such as Lo Sconosciuto, I Briganti, Milady, and Le femmine incantate. A highlight is the complete original artwork for "La valle del terrore" (the "Texone"), a Tex Willer story written with Claudio Nizzi and published posthumously. The 224 boards of this western epic are displayed in full for the first time, accompanied by preparatory sketches and notes. The exhibition runs until October 12, 2025. Curators described it as an unmissable and necessary show that finally recognizes Magnus as a timeless master of European comics.
