Magnus Renfrew departs Art Basel Hong Kong for deputy chairman role at Bonhams Asia

Starting in September, Magnus Renfrew will step into the role of deputy chairman for Asia and director of fine arts at Bonhams auction house. Right now, he serves as the Asia director for Art Basel and was also the founding fair director of ART HK in 2008, which was bought by MCH Group in 2011 and later renamed Art Basel in Hong Kong. He oversaw its first editions in 2013 and 2014. Renfrew's background includes curating exhibits at Pearl Lam's Contrasts Gallery in Shanghai and working as a specialist at Bonhams, where he helped launch London’s first Contemporary Asian Art sale in June 2006. In his new role, he will manage the new auction space on the 20th floor of One Pacific Place in Hong Kong.
