Magnum Women Photographers Explore Intimacy and Ethics in 'Close Enough' at C/O Berlin

exhibition · 2026-04-19

C/O Berlin is hosting 'Close Enough,' an exhibition that showcases the work of 12 female photographers from Magnum Photos, which will be on view until 28 January in celebration of the gallery's 25th anniversary. Initially presented at the International Center of Photography in New York in 2022, this exhibit explores the changing ethics of documentary photography, focusing on themes of trust, intimacy, and representation. Magnum Photos, established in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and David 'Chim' Seymour, now boasts 49 members, enhancing its diversity. Among the featured photographers are Susan Meiselas, Bieke Depoorter, Sabiha Çimen, Olivia Arthur, and Hannah Price. Curator Fred Ritchin emphasizes the need to rethink the adequacy of simply documenting injustice, encouraging viewers to reflect on artistic practices.
