Magnum photographers capture Sardinia's post-war transformation in Cagliari exhibition
Palazzo di Città in Cagliari is hosting a new exhibition to mark the 70th anniversary of Magnum Photos, showcasing 70 photographs of Sardinia from the post-war era through the 1970s. In 1950, Werner Bischof became the first Magnum photographer to capture rural life in Iglesiente and Campidano. David Seymour documented the Sant'Efisio festival in Cagliari, while Bruno Barbery focused on Sardinian jewelry and everyday life in Nuoro. Ferdinando Scianna, who visited from 1969 to 2003, recorded hunting scenes and Mamuthones rituals. In 1962, Henri Cartier-Bresson photographed Cagliari and its surroundings. The exhibition wraps up with a documentary by Fiorenzo Serra, illustrating the island's evolution from the 1950s to the 1970s.
