MAGMA Gallery Opens Project Space in Venice with Nicola Facchini Solo Show

exhibition · 2026-04-27

MAGMA Gallery, founded in 2016 in Bologna, is expanding to Venice with a new project space on Via Garibaldi, steps from the Biennale. The space will focus on solo exhibitions, site-specific installations, and artist spotlights. It opens on January 27, 2024, with a solo show by Nicola Facchini (Trieste, 1990), co-founder of the collective Fondazione Malutta, titled "Acqua Bruciata." The exhibition runs until February 23, 2024, featuring Facchini's paintings, sculptures, and graphics with Baconian, post-impressionist, and expressionist influences. Future programming includes a solo show by painter Francesca Miotto (Venice, 1985) and site-specific projects with international artists. In April, during the Biennale, the gallery will host a solo exhibition by Jan Kaláb, a Czech Pop Abstractionist, featuring an optical illusion installation. Later, Portuguese urban artist Vhils will create a site-specific work engaging with the city. Gallerist Martina Gambillara, a former Artribune collaborator, oversees the expansion.
