Magic Carpets Third Edition 'La Fantastica' Brings Art to Rome's Suburbs
The third edition of Magic Carpets, titled 'La Fantastica', takes place in the Roman suburbs of Trullo and Corviale from September 30 to October 2, 2020. Curated by Giulia Pardini and directed by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini for Latitudo Art Projects, the project involves artists Sara Basta (Rome, 1979), John Cascone (Cheltenham, 1976), and Mykolas Juodele (Vilnius, 1989). The initiative aims to foster individual and collective creativity through workshops and a festival, inspired by Gianni Rodari's 'La torta in cielo' and Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Ragazzi di vita'. Basta and Cascone conducted embroidery and writing workshops in Trullo based on Rodari's 'Grammatica della Fantasia', while Juodele developed a photographic project in Corviale referencing Pasolini. The festival will feature a colorful street event adhering to health regulations. Carpi De Resmini noted the significance of the centenary of Rodari's birth and the historical connection of these areas to both Rodari and Pasolini.
