Magazzino Italian Art Uses Wearable Tech for Social Distancing
Magazzino Italian Art in New York is reopening and introducing EGOpro Active Tags, innovative wearable devices that use UWB radio technology to help maintain social distancing. Developed by the Italian firm AME and American company AIM, these devices vibrate and light up red when visitors get too close to each other. They can be set up so that groups stay together without triggering alerts. Additional safety measures include online reservations, thorough sanitization, regular cleaning, temperature checks, and free masks. During the lockdown, the museum launched Homemade, an online showcase featuring eight Italian artists based in New York, including names like Alessandro Teoldi and Beatrice Scaccia. You can check out their work on Magazzino's website and Instagram. The museum, founded in 2017 by Giorgio Spanu and Nancy Olnick, houses over 500 postwar Italian art pieces, particularly focusing on Arte Povera.
