Magazzino Italian Art presents comprehensive Alighiero Boetti retrospective spanning 1966-1993

'Tutto Boetti 1966–1993,' a significant retrospective at Magazzino Italian Art, will delve into Alighiero Boetti's artistic journey from his initial experiments to his later masterpieces. Set to open on April 26, 2026, and continuing until April 26, 2028, the exhibition will showcase around 30 works sourced from the museum's permanent collection, the Boetti estate, and notable private collections. It will commence with pieces from Boetti's inaugural solo show at Christian Stein Gallery in Turin in 1967, featuring the original invitation card with materials like cork and electric wire that symbolize postwar Italian industrialization. A symposium on April 25, 2026, in collaboration with Fondazione Alighiero e Boetti in Rome, will gather curators, critics, and artists to explore Boetti's lasting impact. The exhibition will also highlight works from Boetti's Roman era, emphasizing duality and delegated execution, including 'Da mille a mille' (1975) and 'Mappa' (1983) from his renowned series initiated after his 1971 Afghanistan journey. A catalogue edited by Professor Francesco Guzzetti will provide comprehensive entries for each piece. Museum co-founders Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu emphasized the exhibition's significance in reevaluating Boetti's crucial contribution to Arte Povera, facilitated through partnerships with Gianfranco Benedetti of Galleria Christian Stein and other lenders.
