Magazzino Italian Art presents Cinema in piazza film series

Magazzino Italian Art, founded in 2017 by collectors Giorgio Spanu and Nancy Olnick, launches Cinema in piazza, a twelve-film program on postwar Italian and international artists. The series runs from July 13 to 28, 2018, at its Cold Spring venue, one and a half hours from New York, in collaboration with Artecinema and Cold Spring Film Society. Screenings occur every Friday and Saturday, two per evening, preceded by introductions from art historian Francesco Guzzetti. Films cover Italian artists Piero Manzoni, Jannis Kounellis, Giulio Paolini, Pino Pascali, Giuseppe Penone, and Michelangelo Pistoletto, and international artists Joseph Beuys, Louise Bourgeois, Sol LeWitt, Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, and the Land Artists. Each evening pairs one Italian and one international artist to highlight common ground or opposing approaches to similar themes, offering insight into postwar avant-garde. All proceeds from online-only ticket sales benefit RxArt, a nonprofit using visual art to help children heal.
