Madrid's Must-See Shows: Tàpies, Chagall, Cheng, and Caribbean Focus at ARCO 2024

The 43rd edition of ARCOmadrid shifts from late February to the first week of March, maintaining its focus on Latin American creativity. The central section, curated by Carla Acevedo-Yates and Sara Hermann Morera, features 19 galleries presenting exclusively Caribbean artists. Concurrently, Madrid hosts numerous exhibitions. At the Museo Reina Sofía, 'Antoni Tàpies. La práctica del arte' runs until June 24, 2024, with over 200 works from public and private collections, curated by Manuel Borja-Villel. Fundación Mapfre presents 'Chagall. Un grito de libertad' until May 5, 2024, with 160 works and 90 documents, including loans from the Guggenheim New York. Ian Cheng's 'Thousand Lives' at Matadero Madrid until May 5, 2024, features AI-driven video works. CA2M in Móstoles hosts three solo shows: Teresa Solar Abboud, Asunción Molinos Gordo, and Ana Gallardo, running until July/September 2024. The Universidad Complutense presents 'Happy. Ensayos en torno al arte de Jorge Pineda' until April 7, 2024. Stephanie Comilang's 'En busca de la vida' is at Museo Thyssen until May 26, 2024. Precious Okoyomon's 'When the lambs rise up against the Bird of Pray' is at Parque del Retiro until April 2, 2024.
