Madrid's Major Museums Announce 2026 Exhibition Programs

Following record attendance, Madrid's top museums—the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza—revealed their exhibition plans for 2026. Visitor numbers reached over 3.5 million at the Prado, while the Reina Sofía attracted 1.6 million (an increase of 4.2%), and the Thyssen welcomed over 1 million (up 5.4%). Notable events include the Reina Sofía's new permanent collection debuting in February and a significant Dalí exhibition at the Thyssen in autumn. Additionally, the Thyssen will showcase a tribute to Robert Rauschenberg, works by Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershøi, and a focus on Guercino. The Prado will present three exhibitions centered on queens and the major show "La maniera di Italia" from late May to late September. All museums maintain free admission and late-night openings, with the Thyssen's website exceeding 10.2 million views.
