Madrid's La Tabacalera to house Latin American contemporary art space with CIFO collection
A new exhibition space focusing on contemporary art from Latin America will open at Madrid's La Tabacalera arts center. The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) and Spain's Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport announced the initiative on February 22, 2018. Works will be drawn from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection, which contains over 3,000 pieces by international artists. This collection includes works by Carmen Herrera, Cildo Meireles, Jesus Soto, Grete Stern, and Horacio Coppola. The second floor of La Tabacalera will house the dedicated space. Currently undergoing refurbishment, the venue expects to offer more than 50,000 square feet of exhibition area. The foundation will donate artworks from its extensive holdings for this purpose.
