Made in Cloister Foundation in Naples Seized by Prosecutor
The Made in Cloister Foundation in Naples, which opened a year ago in the renovated Chiostro di Santa Caterina a Formiello, has had part of its operations seized by the public prosecutor's office due to complaints from locals about building violations. This cultural hub transformed an old garage and car wash into a lively center, showcasing international art, including a solo exhibit by Laurie Anderson, as well as hosting a restaurant and workshops focused on local artistry. The seizure came as a surprise since the renovation was approved by the local architectural heritage authority. Investigations revealed minor issues: one concerning the restaurant's permit and another linked to the roof's seismic safety. Founder Antonio Martiniello, also a UNESCO youth ambassador for Campania, is hopeful and has launched a social media campaign using the hashtag #sequestrati to garner support, while the foundation currently showcases work by Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata.
