Madame Clicquot biopic premieres at TIFF 2023, releases in Italy September 12

The film 'Madame Clicquot,' directed by Thomas Napper, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 to critical acclaim. It stars Haley Bennett as Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, with Tom Sturridge, Sam Riley, and Ben Miles. The story follows the 27-year-old widow who took over her family's champagne house, defying 19th-century gender norms. She created the first vintage champagne, shipped 10,550 bottles to Russia evading Napoleon's blockade, invented the riddling table for clarity, and formulated the first blended rosé. The film is based on Tilar J. Mazzeo's biography 'The Widow Clicquot' and was shot in Chablis and Reims. It will be released in Italian cinemas on September 12 by Movies Inspired. The Veuve Clicquot house continues to celebrate her legacy with limited-edition La Grande Dame bottles designed by artists like Yayoi Kusama.
