MACTE Termoli Reopens with New Director Caterina Riva, Expands with Art Library and Architecture Section

The MACTE – Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Termoli has reopened with a reinstallation of its permanent collection and new initiatives under director Caterina Riva, who started in September. A new wing is under construction to house the first art library in the Molise region and educational spaces. Riva has rehung the collection from the historic Premio Termoli, pairing historical artists with recent winners like Benni Bosetto and Riccardo Baruzzi, and giving more visibility to women artists and sculpture. The exhibition opens with a work by Getulio Alviani, highlighting conservation challenges; a collaboration with the restoration school of the Accademia di Brera is planned. Future projects include commissioning texts from critics and curators to enhance interpretation, and digitizing the archive. The first temporary show curated by Riva, 'Le 3 ecologie,' will mix Italian and international works. The next Premio Termoli introduces a section for architecture and design, with an open call that attracted nearly 200 proposals for a bus shelter. MACTE has joined AMACI (Associazione dei Musei di Arte Contemporanea Italiani) and aims to become a year-round destination, leveraging growing interest in the region.
