MACRO Rome Reopens with 'Museo per l’Immaginazione Preventiva'
The MACRO museum in Rome has reopened with a new exhibition titled 'Museo per l’Immaginazione Preventiva' (Museum for Preventive Imagination), curated by director Luca Lo Pinto. The show runs until 2022 and aims to address the question 'What makes a museum possible today?' Lo Pinto has chosen not to disguise the museum's challenging architecture, originally designed by Odile Decq, but instead highlights its asperities with the help of participating artists. The exhibition features works by Trisha Donnelly, Nora Turato, Nicole Wermers, Philipp Fleischmann, Luca Vitone, Emilio Prini, and others. It includes historical documents such as a letter by Seth Siegelaub, a rediscovery of Sister Corita, and a film program with Rossellini's 'Beaubourg'. A special intervention by Lawrence Weiner will fly a banner over the coast between Ladispoli and Anzio from August 16 to 25. The museum remains free and open to all, aiming to be a democratic space for citizens.
