Macro Roma's New Director Luca Lo Pinto Transforms Museum into Magazine-like Exhibition Platform

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Luca Lo Pinto, the new director of Macro Roma, has restructured the museum's exhibition program to function like a magazine, with distinct sections for each space. The main hall has been painted black to unify with the foyer. A major solo show of Nathalie Du Pasquier features paintings, installations, wall paintings, and sculptures exploring domestic themes. The 'Retrofuturo' series presents rotating works by artists including Gianluca Concialdi, Davide Stucchi, and Giovanna Silva. Current highlights include Carola Bonfili's video and sculptures inspired by the Renaissance book 'Hypnerotomachia Poliphilii', and Beatrice Marchi's video of isolated figures on airport walkways. Other projects include tributes to Simone Carella, Wolfgang Stoerchle, and the erotic magazine Playmen, plus solo shows by Soshiro Matsubara, Editions Mego, and Boy Veerecken.
